Tooth Whitening Treatment-THE KoR DEEP-WHITENING SYSTEM

Professional chairside teeth whitening with your doctor-in office At-home whitening system The KoR system is the best combination of both!

It starts with a specialized impression process to deliver to each patient a uniquely superior set of custom bleaching trays. These trays are used at home for two weeks in combination with the take-home bleaching agent. The patient then returns to the office for their chair-side bleaching appointment.

This second stage of the process utilizes a protective gel for your gums to protect the oral soft tissues and a more concentrated professionally applied bleaching agent applied to the teeth three times. This unique combination of technique and product used, allows this system to be second to none!

Teeth whitening can have minor side-effects and you should speak with Dr. Duca if these become bothersome. For example, teeth can become sensitive during the period when you are using the bleaching solution. In most cases, this sensitivity is temporary and should lessen once the treatment is finished. The KoR System is unique in that the custom whitening trays fit so well that soft tissue contact is a non-factor. Tooth sensitivity is rarely seen using the KoR Deep Whitening System.
To find the best treatment, schedule a visit with Dr. Duca to learn whether the KoR Deep Whitening System, would be effective for you. Note that whiteners will not correct all types of tooth discoloration equally, they work most effectively on a natural tooth structure. In severe instances of discoloration, there are alternative treatments such as porcelain veneers or full coverage porcelain crowns that should be considered.

Other cosmetic procedures that you may have read or heard about or are considering include:

Teeth Whitening Strips

Teeth whitening strips are thin, flexible plastic (polyethylene) strips with a thin film of hydrogen peroxide bleaching on one side. Whitening strip kits come with two types of strips: strips for the upper teeth and strips for the lower teeth. The bleaching agent is applied by placing the strips across your teeth and gently pressing the strips into place to ensure contact with all your teeth. Teeth whitening strips are typically worn for 30 minutes a day, twice a day. The duration of treatment will vary. You may purchase them in many drug stores and supermarkets. They are generally significantly less effective (as the active ingredient is in much lower concentration) and less costly.

Paint on Teeth Whitening

Paint-on teeth whitening allows you to apply a bleaching agent directly to your teeth without an appliance or strip. You simply “paint” the whitener onto the surface of clean, dry teeth and wait about 30 minutes while the paint turns to a dry film. To remove this film, you simply brush your teeth with a toothbrush. Paint-on whitening products require twice-daily applications to be effective. The duration of treatment will vary. An advantage in this process is that you can selectively paint individual teeth. The downside of this process is the low concentration of active ingredient and the difficulty keeping it on the teeth for a meaningful length of time. It’s generally not effective.

Whitening Toothpaste

All toothpastes help remove surface stain from your teeth through the action of mild abrasives. “Whitening” toothpastes in the ADA Seal of Acceptance program have special chemical or polishing agents that provide additional stain removal effectiveness. Unlike bleaches, these ADA Accepted products do not alter the intrinsic color of teeth.

Porcelain Veneers

There’s no reason to put up with gaps in your teeth or with teeth that are stained, discolored, badly shaped, chipped, or crooked. Today, a veneer placed on top of your teeth can correct nature’s mistake or the results of an injury and help you have a beautiful smile. Veneers are a highly popular solution among dental patients because of their lifelike tooth appearance.

Veneers are thin, custom-made shells crafted of tooth-colored porcelain materials, designed to cover the front and incisal edges of your teeth. To prepare for veneers, your doctor will create a unique model of your teeth. This model is sent to the dental technician to create your veneers. Before placing your new veneer, your doctor will remove a small amount of your tooth to make room for the veneer. When placed, you’ll be pleased to see that veneers look like your natural teeth and even resist staining.

Metal-Less Crowns-The Ultimate in Esthetics and Srength

Zirconia Crowns are incredibly natural looking showing the same opacity and pearl-like beauty of natural teeth. They have a flexural strength and fracture toughness almost twice as high as that of alumina, which makes them very resistant to chewing forces and breaking, while maintaining an exact precision fit. Zirconia is a highly biocompatible material, and has been shown to accumulate less bacteria in vivo in terms of presence and total number of potential pathogens. Our patients that want the ultimate in esthetics, where possible,
choose Zirconia.
